Questionnaire for Potential BAPIC Practicum Sites

Thank you for considering partnering as a practicum training site with the Bay Area doctoral psychology programs.

The BAPIC Consortium schools coordinate and administer all full (required) doctoral training placements through the BAPIC match process.

For the sake of clarity, full or required doctoral training placements are required by the school, are completed for credit, and must be between 16 and 24 hours per week for approximately 9 to 12 months.
Students who match through this matching process are considered obligated to your agency and vice versa.

Supplemental (non-required) training opportunities can be offered by any agency.  However, at this time, these are only offered after the match is complete for full placements and can be for fewer hours, fewer weeks and sometimes with more flexible requirements.  Supplemental placements are not offered through the BAPIC match and are discussed individually with schools.

There may be non-BAPIC schools engaged in seeking practicum sites for their schools.  We ask that when you indicate the number of placements available for any match cycle in your BAPIC profile, you ONLY include those numbers you will be offering to doctoral level practicum students through the BAPIC patch.
Please complete the following questionnaire to the best of your ability. Please especially be sure to answer all sections or items with a red asterisk (*).

This information will be reviewed for your eligibility to join BAPIC as a training agency.  If you are approved, you will be asked to complete a BAPIC profile.  Once you have done so, you must contact each BAPIC school you wish to be considered for.  Each school may have slightly different eligibility requirements. Being added to the BAPIC list doesn’t guarantee that you will be considered for connection with one or more BAPIC schools.

Being a training program means:

  • Students are generally regarded as trainees and not primarily employees

  • Students are formally supervised and formal training is provided

  • Students are expected to follow an intentional and developmentally appropriate arc of training over the course of the placement

  • Agencies connect with schools to complete evaluations and discuss any concerns about trainees

Being a part of BAPIC means:

  • You agree to abide by BAPIC policies and procedures

  • You will only accept BAPIC-school  practicum trainees for non-supplemental training opportunities through BAPIC annual application and ranking process

  • You will make individual agreements with schools once students match with your agency

Please complete the questionnaire below.  The portions in blue are clarifications and information about school preferences.
